2018 Volkswagen Atlas – Full-Size SUV
When it comes to appearance, we can say that the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is going to be a real American three-row crossover. It will be massive and square, resembling a lot the Ford Explorer, in terms of design. Experts say that this model will be based on VW’s MQB platform, but on the Cross Blue Concept when we talk about the outside look. It mostly resembles the Blue Concept in the front part – the rectangular-shaped grille is quite similar with, perhaps, a few minor changes. Also, the headlight and the shape of the air dam seem familiar, although the air dam will be taller-positioned. Up front, you will also find the fog lights instead of the corner air vents. It has been said that the hood of the new Atlas will be literally identical to the ones seen on the Cross Blue Concept and Q7. However, the taillights will get a unique look. Looking at the side profile, there will be plenty more familiar features found on the Q7 and Kodiaq.

Inside the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, you will find an elegant and simple cabin and three rows of seats that will be able to accommodate seven adult passengers. The comfort is guaranteed and offered even in the third row and there will be enough headroom and legroom. You can also expect a spacious trunk for your luggage. The interior will be furnished with soft-touch materials as well as the wood and metal-like details. The 2018 Atlas will be technologically well-equipped, too, so, for instance, you will get an 8.0-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, a Fender-branded audio system with 12 speakers, navigation system and the three-zone climate control as well as safety features such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system. It will also have a sporty steering-wheel, slightly flat-bottomed.
Under the hood, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas will offer two versions of engine. A 2.0-liter inline-four will make 238 horsepower. The other version will be equipped with the well-known 3.6-liter V-6 that will be able to hit 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. This model will be based on the 4motion all-wheel-drive system which offers a mode choice, depending on the driving and road conditions.
